Customer Case Study: The Norwegian Coastal Administration
The Norwegian Coastal Administration is the Ministry of Fisheries and Coastal Affairs’ agency for sea transport, sea safety, ports and preparedness against acute pollution. It is they who ensure a safe and environmentally friendly coastline, and have the entire coast as their users. Every day the Norwegian Coastal Administration receives around 300 enquiries at its switchboard on phone number 07847.
In close cooperation with the Norwegian Coastal Administration, Intelecom has developed a platform with a common switchboard where cell phones are also integrated.
Outside of office hours, dedicated on-duty telephone numbers handle enquiries on lighthouses that have gone dark, vessels wanting to book pilots, reports of acute pollution and other matters related to coastal traffic. Thus the Norwegian Coastal Administration knows immediately, and is accessible around the clock for national emergencies.
The day-to-day enquiries now go through the switchboard, and involve only a few employees. This results in efficiency gains, and the Norwegian Coastal Administration saves significant resources on operation and administration, and can concentrate on its core tasks.
“We have become very conscious of uptime and accessibility. The solution from Intelecom that also includes telephony services makes us confident that we can manage our tasks in a satisfactory manner. Now we have only have to relate to one supplier”
Harald Frantzen, Senior Engineer with the Norwegian Coastal Administration
